Case Study 01 · Heritage Mapping

A Thai Family Spanning Four Generations

The Situation

A family based in Bangkok had oral knowledge of four generations but no organised written record. Older relatives were aging and the family wanted to capture family history before it became difficult to gather.

What We Did

The client completed the Heritage Mapping Course over four sessions. We worked through conversations with relatives, located photographs, and gradually built a branching heritage map covering three provinces and four generations.

What Changed

The family now has a physical and digital heritage map. Copies have been shared with family members in two cities. The client described the process as something that had brought different parts of the family into conversation for the first time in years.

An Expat Household With Documents From Three Countries

The Situation

A long-term expatriate had accumulated twelve years of household documents from the UK, Australia, and Thailand, stored across multiple folders, drives, and drawers with no consistent system.

What We Did

Over a single day-long session, we assessed and categorised all documents, designed a labelled filing structure divided by country and document type, and worked through the backlog together. A maintenance checklist was created at the end.

What Changed

The client reported finding the relevant documents within seconds rather than searching for twenty minutes. The system has been in use for three months without needing significant adjustment. The checklist is used quarterly.
